Lineage: This school of Reiki originally came from Raku Kei, it is believed that a man named Jim Davis began using the name Johrei to distinguish it from other branches and more closely associate it with its perceived roots.

Origin: Johrei Reiki is a combination of Raku Kei Reiki and the Religion Johrei. The Johrei Fellowship does not recognize it as part of what they do and they have trademarked the name Johrei so that any unauthorized usage is forbidden. It is believed that several Reiki Masters who were trained in Raku Kei broke off and began teaching the system as Johrei Reiki. This system of Reiki is no longer being taught under the name Johrei Reiki.
